Meeting opened at
1900 Hrs with prayer led by Post Chaplain Mark Provencher, Commander
Degner along with 1st Vice Dave Niedfeldt conducted the
POW/MIA empty chair ceremony, and the Commander led the pledge to the
Flag and the reading of the American Legion Preamble.
The meeting opened
with reading of the first minutes of the first meeting of the Post on
April 8th, 1920. The first meeting was held at the Plymouth
Library.
Finance Report: No
Report
Membership: Ed
Schroeder introduced Lloyd Sargent Veteran of the Korean War and the US
Navy, as a new member. Warm welcome to Lloyd to the largest service
organization in the country.
Ed also reported 16 members of the Post honor guard preformed
military funeral rites for a Korean War Veteran Marvin Arensten on
4/7/2008.
Post Website: Jim
Faller reported that the website is up and running. The cost for the
year $48.00 and the domain name $11.00. Jim encouraged members to visit
the site
www.wilegionpost243.org and forward any information such as history
or pictures.
Youth Sports:
DuWayne Wieck has been researching costs for the Post to be the sponsor
for an American Legion Shooting Sports program; this would involve using
air rifles. The first concern was liability and found that the Post’s
insurance carrier would cover for an additional $500 a year for $500,000
in coverage. The program would be open to other youth organizations and
this cost along with other costs could be shared with them. DuWayne is
still researching and will provide more information.
House Committee:
Gene Blindauer reported on the progress of redoing Apt# 2. The radiators
were removed to repair the flooring and the painting is done. The new
cabinets will be ready to be installed after the floor is repaired. Gene
is always looking for help; please contact him if you can assist.
Historian: Ken
Deicher reported that the new patch and insignia display case is up.
Memorial Day Parade:
Konrad Kaczkowski reported that the speaker will be former 1st
Sgt. Brad Jorsch of Plymouth’s Bravo Co., there will be parade Marshals
this year and they will be area WW II Vets. A bus will be ordered for
them to participate in the parade. The usual groups will also be
attending.
Social Night:
Problems again last month with people that are on the “Always Attend
List” and don’t call if they’re not attending.

electrical project loan was approved at prime rate from Bank First
National
Sick Call: Gordy
Dreifuerst and Bud Sweeney Meeting concluded at
20:00 Hrs with the reading of 5 Wisconsin soldiers that died fighting in
Operation Iraqi Freedom in the month of April between 2003 and present .
Chaplain Provencher led the closing prayer followed by Joe Benauer
playing taps.
