Meeting Minutes 05/13/2008
Attendance: Larry Behr, Mark Provencher, Don Guse, Dennis Halloran, John
Grothe, David Niedfeldt, Mel Lulow, Flare Fredricksen, Arlan Schlundt,
William Balke, Bill Smith, George Helpap, Gene Blindauer, Dan Tongen,

Earl Bergin, Norm Halloran, James Faller, Willard Schram, Philip
Tripoli, Bill Kamin, Ed Schroeder, Mark Degner, Konrad Kaczkowski
Meeting opened at 1900 Hrs with prayer led by Post Chaplain Mark
Provencher, Commander Degner along with first Vice Dave Niedfeldt
conducted the MIA/POW empty chair ceremony, and the Commander led the
pledge to the Flag and the reading of the American Legion Preamble.
The Jerry Johnson Memorial scholarship was awarded to Garrett Wells in
the amount of $1,060.00.
Membership: Ed Schroeder introduced 2 new members, Rueben Rabe U.S. Army
Vietnam War era and Philip Tripoli 20 years U.S. Navy.
Give a warm welcome to these two into the largest service
organization in the country.
House Committee: Electrical is close to being complete. Apartment should
be ready by June 1st.
Website: Newsletter should be appearing soon in an abbreviated version.
Youth Sports: DuWayne Wieck reported there’s a need to find a suitable
indoor facility for air rifle program that was discussed at the last
meeting that measures at least 30’x45’. Ideally this would hold 6 lanes
with an estimated cost of $260.00 per lane. There are ways this cost
could be off set. DuWayne is calling for members to notify him of any
youths between the ages of 14-18 that would be interested in joining the
American Legion Air Rifle program. They would be taught gun safety and
how to shoot. They can contact DuWayne at 627-1879 by July 1st
for more information.
Memorial Day Parade: Larry Behr asked that Honor Squad members be ready
to leave the Post by 6:00 AM for cemetery ceremonies. Breakfast will be
at the Post following the ceremonies. The Post will lead the parade,
with step off time at 10:00 AM, ready to assemble by 9:30 AM. Konrad
Kaczkowski reported that at this time there are 26 World War II Vets
that will participate in the parade as Parade Marshals.
New Commander: Mark Degner announced due to time constraints he will not
be a candidate for Post Commander. Commander asked for nominations for
the next Post Commander and David Niedfeldt was the only nominee. Gene
Ramsey was the only nominee for 1st Vice and Mark Degner only
nominee for 2nd Vice. Mark Provencher made a motion to accept
the nominations, 2nd by Don Guse motion carried by voice
vote. Mark Provencher made a motion that since there were no other
candidates that the nominees be voted into office by voice vote, 2nd
by Don Guse, motion carried by voice vote. New Commander will be David
Niedfeldt, 1st Vice Gene Ramsey and 2nd Vice Mark
Provencher. Sgt. at Arms, Adjutant, Finance, Service Officer, and
Executive Committee will remain the same.

Flare Fredricksen announced Memorial Day program at the Plymouth Senior
Center Tuesday May 27th at 11:30 AM.
He also has set up a program at Rocky Knoll for Friday June 13th
in honor of Flag Day at 9:30 AM. Any and all members are encouraged to
attend these events. Uniform of the day will the Legion Polo shirt.
Free Event: Sunday July 6th at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The
5th annual Operation Freedom 2008. Free admission to the zoo,
free picnic lunch, information on Veterans benefits through out the day,
plus much more. Wrist bands will be available at the Sheboygan County
Veterans Service Office after Memorial Day. You will have to obtain the
bands in person. More information on the Post website.
Meeting concluded at 20:20 Hrs with closing prayer by Post Chaplain Mark
Provencher, remembrance of the fallen in the great wars and taps by
Willard Schram.
